SHOW INFO
This show was taken from the World Series of Rock 89, which had Poison as the headliners, and also included Winger, White Lion and one other band that I
can't remember now. I really miss the days when you can get five kickass bands doing extended sets. Maybe I'm getting too old, but I believe once you get
more than five or six, with second stages, the show becomes overblown and its hard to remember much of it afterwords. Five is about right.
Whoops--major tangent there. This was early in the Great Radio Controversey tour, and Tesla would return to Wisconsin later in the year with Great White and
Badlands in tour. I caught that show in Milwaukee, which was awesome. (If anyone has either the Tesla or GW set from some date on that tour, that would be
great).
And just listening to this again makes me realize how strong of a setlist this show has--with the exception of We're No Good Together, this has the best
songs from the first two albums. Amazing
Anyway, enjoy everyone. |

SHOW INFO
Lineage: Cassette master > UA-3FX(to aiff@24bit48KHz) > Sound It 3.0/Audacity(remastering-noise reduction, EQ, down conversion to 16bit44.1KHz, track
dividing) > xACT (SBE fix, flac compression level > flac
It's been quite a long time since I started working on this show. The master cassette has terrible noise especially in lower frequency and the sound itself
is lack of bottom, all instruments except drums(bit low in the mix) and vocals are well balanced, though. I know some good early Savatage shows are up on
EZT But I really want to share this valuable show on "Streets - A Rock Opera" era, because which is not circulating around very much and this is their first
and last show in Japan with Criss Oliva(R.I.P.). It was kinda show case in fact(ticket was quite cheep here at around $25, normally around $50-$55) then
they did only 1 full show during their stay(except the opening short performance for Yngwie Malmsteen at the famous Budokan). I love "Streets" album so
much and I was so happy to see the show then. Now I think I have to thank God that I@am so fortunate that I could see the show. (funny Jesus666 thanks
God!?)
As mentioned above, sound quality is not great, just listenable with remastering(I hope), then this should be die-hard Savatage maniacs. Also, There happened
tape flip at the beginning of 1st verse of Gutter Ballet(what a bad timing...), so I filled up the missing part(approx 10sec.) with copied 2nd verse to make
it sound smoothly, but lyrically strange. Please note, performance is extremely great!!!
Hope you like the show!

TRANSFERED, MIXED AND MASTERED BY DJ (ACCADACCA) june 1 2006
A ferocious show with the band playing fast and tight. Its so nice to hear shows of the band before 96 when
Phil was still coherent and the band was top of their game following the release of VULGAR DISPLAY OF POWER
I saw the band on this tour when the hit SF at the Warfield (or what is Oakland with Skid Row ??). Band breaks
into a nice cover of Come Touch The Sky and Thunderkiss. Dime is on Fire as usual...was he ever off ?
As seems the case with most Canadian recordings this is a nice above average audience tape from the time. Ill give it a fair
B/B+ recording. Enjoy . This is the first of some 50 live tapes I have sitting untransferred in the cabinet. |

Recorded by Hurricane62 from right of stage (great for viewing, but right in front of the speaker stack on Stone's side). This was the 4th performance on
the US leg of the 2008 "Hits & Rarities" World Tour.
Because of my proximity to the speaker stack and the fact that this was only my second attempt at a recording with my Zoom H4, the raw recording wasn't in
the best of shape. Also, this was a General Admission show and the crowd was packed pretty tight in my area so there's a bit of background noise (mostly
between songs). I have been massaging it with WavePad and think that I have come up with a pretty good "middle of the road" result that you should be able
to dial in to your ear using small adjustments to your equalizer. Mp3 samples are available for you to decide.
"NM 156" and "Screaming In Digital" have been combined into one track as there was no break between these two songs. Also, I have broken out the sections
where Geoff was speaking with the audience between songs so that I could adjust these sections independently from the musical portions. I also eliminated
the audience applause between "Empire" and the encore selections.
"Neon Knights" features contest winner Rick Forsgren (vocalist for the local band "Rockfist"). Some photos from the show are included. |

Heres what the taper had to say:
They were frisking hard at the door that night. I had one of the
opening bands take in the recorder for me and for doing so i agreed
to tape them. There were few people in the venue and i was spotted
taping the opener(I forgot what the band was) by testaments tour
manager. He interrupted and took the tape away before they were even
finished. Luckilly the D3 was not confiscated and i had one extra
100 min tape behind my wallet. I found a spot on the far right of the
club near the bar entranceway away from him and managed to tape 95%
of the show. I had no extra tape left when i ran out during Hail Mary.
They played one more song after that... The songs listed above are
what i was able to pull off.
