I am a little late to the party but wanted to follow-up with my disgust of IM's decision to play the entire "Life or Death" albumn on their latest tour of the States. Have they indicated why they did this or apologized to their fans for such a bad decision?

Any links to discussion that have already taken place would be greatly appreciated.

It wasn't just in the states, it was the whole tour. You've just got to look at the upside, loads of maiden fans wanted to hear the new songs live as they'd heard the trooper, run to the hills etc about 1 million times! Maybe it wasn't very good for people who were seeing them for the first time, myself included, but you've gotta understand their decision, I had a bloody good time anyway, even if I did want to here the trooper!

Yes this has been covered elsewhere, and Ben and I got a right kicking for saying it was a shite, self-indulgent idea from the band. To the point that Ben sold his tix to the UK shows, Sixxy walked out in disgust and both Sixxy and I turned down Backstage access for the Dublin (Ireland) Show. Neutral

But what was their position? That they have become sell outs to commercialism and Pop-music, something that Bruce said they would never do in 2003?

I think they have sold out. I am sure you heard Bruce's little speech at the Waldrock concert in 2003 in which they didn't give a crap about what others thought and now it seems they do. Why else play the entire albumn at a concert for an audience that is not there to listen to the new albumn, which by the way, is horrible played live, with the exception of a few songs.

They played the entire album live, that just goes to show that they don't give a shit what others think about them. And how is the AMOLAD horrible played live? It was fucking recorded live!!! Listen mate, your entitled to your own opinions, just please don't go about stating them like there facts.

AMOLAD = not enough rocking songs which Maiden are best at, too many long winded 'epic' songs with identical bass intros and cut and paste drums Neutral

From what Fraidy told me, the crowd were just clapping out of respect, and not because they actually enjoyed the music Neutral

By lord of light it was becomig a bit repetitive but the legacy was the best of the new songs played live! It made you appreciate the "classics" a bit more, I mean, when fear of the dark came on the crowd went wild!

Exactly, they went wild when they played FOTD, but when they played The Longest Day peoples faces were probably like this " Err.. "

For me, AMOLAD doesnt have any songs that would make me go nuts live, a couple of good tracks, overall, I would of rather of seen Dance of Death played through.

Here, here! Cheers!

That is an albumn that I would like to have heard played live.

Also, there is not caring about what big biz wants you to do and then there's the fans. Ultimately, its the fans that should be catered to because it was them that got them to where they are, right?

I will continue to be a Maiden fan, been one since 1981 and if they put out another albumn, I will probably buy it, but I will be very skeptical before I buy another ticket for a concert.

Not again Neutral

I haven't got time to write an essay....all i'll say is there was no way they were gonna please everyone....but they pleased a hell of a lot of them!

Only thing I wasn't happy with from the 3 gigs I went to was Cardiff's venue, felt like I was on a shelf Err.. and the sound wasn't the best. But NEC and Dublin were mind blowingly good gigs Shocked Given the choice of seeing the DoD or last years tour again, I would choose AMOLAD anytime.....would be good if they'd add Paschendale though Err.. Laughing
